FAQ’s Custom Cakes:

Ordering  custom cakes  can often come with many questions. Listed below are some of our frequently asked questions from clients that order from us.  Should you require addition information on your custom cake order please feel free to contact us.

Are You YorkSafe Approved?

You bet! We are a legal, licensed, and health inspected business. We work out of a commercially inspected kitchen and meet all YorkSafe regulations.

How far in advance should I place my order?

We are not a mass-production bakery therefore, make sure you reserve your date well in advance for your custom cake.  We take orders only until we reach our capacity.  Some weekends book up over a year in advance, other times we may be able to accommodate you with as little as a few days’ notice.  As soon as the date is set for your event, we recommend calling and reserving your date. You will need to know the approximate number of guests to reserve the date. Any other details you have at that time will be helpful.

How do I place my order?

How much do your cakes cost?

Every cake created is unique and will be priced based on time and ingredients required. Every item is freshly baked and custom made to order. Pricing is based on the care given to each item, the one-of-a-kind nature of each order, the complexity of their design, and the amount of time and effort to produce your special order.

Cupcakes start at:    $30 per dozen
Mini cupcakes from $20 per dozen (minimum order 2 dozen per flavour)
Tasting variety pack $50

How do I cut a cake?

Round Cakes: cut an inner circle 2 inches from the outside edge then make slices 1 1/2 inch thick for party slices or 1 inch for wedding slices until cake is completely cut. Repeat inner circle cut on large rounds if needed. Divide the remaining center cake section into equal wedge cuts.

Square Cakes: move in 2 inches from outer edge and cut across. Slice 1 1/2 inch pieces of cake for party slices or 1 inch for
wedding slices, then move in another 2 inches and cut across again until entire cake is finished.

Use a knife rinsed with hot water throughout the cutting process exercising caution. This will help facilitate clean, uniform slices.  Please refer to our cake serving guide for an illustration on how to cut your cake

Do you offer gluten free and vegan friendly options?

Yes, we are happy to offer vegan friendly and gluten free options! Please note that gluten free products are baked in a kitchen containing wheat and although we take every precaution to avoid any cross contamination there is never a guarantee.  These precautions include separate baking days as our wheat products, complete sanitation prior to our gluten free baking. All of our gluten free baking supplies are stored in a covered, air tight container up and away from products containing wheat.

Do you offer wedding consultations and tastings?

Yes. The cost of a consultation and tasting is $30 and must be paid prior to your appointment. Should you book your wedding order with me then this cost gets applied to your overall wedding invoice. For the tasting, you may choose up to 3 flavours from my menu; you and your significant other will sample at the tasting. Your consultation will last between 30 minutes up to 1 hour and we will discuss the details of your wedding vision. Please feel free to bring along any design themes, invitations, colours, etc., that you would like to incorporate into your wedding cake/cupcakes/sweets. Consultations and tastings are by appointment only.

– York Region $25 
– Peel & Durham regions $50 
– An additional set-up fee will be applied to all multi-tier and wedding deliveries 
– Delivery, setup, and stand rental fees are also subject to 13% HST.

Are you able to ship cakes?

Due to the fragile nature of cake we are unable able to ship. We do, however, have a large selection of other sweets that ship well.

What is your payment policy?

All orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your date; which is applied to your final balance.  Your order is not confirmed until we receive your deposit. Wedding cakes require the final balance to be paid 1 month prior to your event date. All other cake, cupcake or baked good orders require the final balance to be paid 1 week prior to your event date.

Payment can be made by cash, email transfer, Visa or MasterCard. Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full at the time of ordering. All payments are non-refundable.
